Jeffrey Otoo
Jeffrey Otoo (b. 1994) is a Ghanaian artist who lives and works in Accra. His work revolves around creating narratives that explore humanity, power, and technology by bringing together ideas and images from various cultures and societies. Otoo’s versatility is evident in his use of diverse media, including fashion, painting, installation, and sculpture.
Otoo has participated in several prominent international exhibitions, such as Documenta 15 in Kassel, Germany (2022), the Stellenbosch Triennale in South Africa (2020), ARX Africa Kunst Museum in Germany, and Baitball in Italy (2019). His solo exhibitions include “’93 till infinity” (2021) at the Great Hall in Kumasi, “Sanguine Paradise” (2019) in Kumasi, “Alt Carbon” (2018) in Accra, and “These are the games we play” (2022) in Accra.
In recognition of his artistic talent, Otoo was shortlisted for the Kuenyehia Art Prize in 2023. He is an active member of the Asafo Black Collective and the Blaxtarlines Collective. Otoo’s work has garnered attention from various media outlets, with features in The New York Times (2020) and “Something We Africans Got” (2020).
Otoo holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a Master’s degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana.
